On Canada and the wild...

Canadian culture and indeed Canadian identity is indelibly marked by the relationship of the areas earliest residents and nature. From nomadic subsistence culture to settlement, farming and beyond the Canadian existence has been defined by reaching, searching and overcoming challenges to success.

In the modern age this truism has been overlooked, suppressed, undermined and even attacked. The age of "Me", the "Culture of the Victim" and the race to erase the past have disconnected the average Canadian from their important outdoor heritage.

We believe that basics are best, that nature reminds us all of our true place in the great scheme of things and that most of all the psychological noise of Social Media; "Thinking globally" and "Activism" has damaged the ability of individuals to properly connect with themselves, their community and the land around them.

By re-connecting people to the land, to their heritage and to themselves, Surly Acres hopes to help individuals while championing preservation and stewardship of our lands. Our close association to Public Service employees mirrors our Commitment to society as they are the bond that holds us together as a community and they are under assault like never before.
