A message from our founder.

Since the late 1990s Surly Acres has witnessed a flow of people and ideas through this land which left a rich, if somewhat turbulent; legacy. But without that history this location could never have become what it is today: An idea realized, a concept proven and a dream fulfilled.

This triumph didn't come without cost and many contributed along the way. Most important of those contributions were energy (including physical labour) and spirit. Many thanks are owed to our spiritual guide; Pastor Terry, without whom much of this would never have been achieved.

Mike "Red" Kelly is a late but enthusiastic convert who brought and still brings enthusiasm and commitment to every task. Among many things, he resides as our resident Apiarist and SME on all things Oak.

Our resident "Bird Nerd" and neophyte Skywatcher Chris T. adds unbridled energy to all pursuits; many occurring at the same time.

Key to present operations are Ms Della Mandella and Ms Luna Cromch, without whom we might find ourselves bereft of joy as we concern ourselves with the ever-present tasks at hand incumbent to any woodlot operation.

Lisa K. is a long-time supporter who has recently taken the lead in our nascent Garlic operation; "Terry's Northern Pearl". She is a much loved friend and partner and brings fresh energy to our pursuits: Her indelible stamp will soon be very evident in operations around the lot.

Thomas T. has also joined us as Team Lead in an important new venture due to debut in 2026; Organic Wood Ash Fertilizer. We welcome his energy and youthful perspective to our operation  confident that he will soon become an essential part of securing our legacy.

I like to think that our work here is important and  I really appreciate the support of the friends and family of Surly Acres. Thank you for your participation, your understanding and your enthusiasm.
